the kitchen

The kitchen is quite big... lots of cupboard space and potential to do it up. First plan is to repaint the cupboards and fix new handles. Secondly, rip up the vinyl floor to expose and polish the floorboards, put in a new sink (and hopefully a dishwasher). Last plan is to put a deck off the side with french or slidig glass doors off to the deck to attract more sun and to create indoor/outdoor flow.

First home owners!

We have just got our keys to our new house and excitedly went to have a look at it. Strange... doesn't feel like our house. Nothing in it, smell of another person, someone's ironing board left in the coupboard with a stack of old magazines shoved in the corner. What do we do now?... Renovate it I guess. Sunshine and I have started a journal for the work we do to this place.

Arrived in Dunedin to a pipes and drums band

Sunshine, the 2 dogs and I have arrived in Dunedin. The last 2 weeks have been an intense period of closing accounts, ending a lease, selling off all we own, preparing the dogs and organising freight for our stuff. We're amazed at how smoothly it all went. Our first day in Dunedin seemed fitting. A full parade of pipes and drums bands from all around. I had a tear in my eye.

Check out the photos of our new house in Broad Bay. The landlord has left his sea kayak and is OK about me using it from time to time. The rent is more expensive than we're used to, but with furniture and a sea kayak included - we're OK by it. Unfortunately we need to build a fence for the dogs. Haven't got any quotes yet... am bracing myself.
